Senior Vice President/Innovation, Ipsos

Basic Function

  • Manages a client service group responsible for both revenues and profits.
  • Consistently meets revenue and profit goals. Identifies issues and proactively addresses them.
  • May participate in development of new services, new businesses or new clients.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves issues in all aspects of business.
  • Works effectively with colleagues throughout Ipsos to cross-sell, build team spirit and support corporate objectives as appropriate.

Support

  • Is a recognized expert. Helps teams find / create solutions to unusual client issues as needed.
  • Establishes long-term, trusted relationships with the most senior-level client contacts.
  • Proactively monitors client issues, communicates to account team, and develops strategies to build satisfaction.
  • Assures that team is selling / positioning Novaction’s products according to corporate guidelines/ strategy.
  • Identifies unmet client needs and leads team to create solutions. Develops new products or NP ideas.
  • Is familiar with products from other Ipsos business units. Effectively suggests to team / client. Introduces Ipsos colleagues to client contacts as appropriate.
  • Collects feedback on other Ipsos business units and shares with colleagues in a productive manner. Helps generate solutions.

Reports

  • Ensures that reports/presentation represent the best solution to clients’ marketing and business issues.
  • Solicits feedback, identifies issues, and develops solutions as appropriate to generate high client satisfaction.
  • Monitors study status and identifies/resolves issues as needed.
  • Identifies examples of best practice (standard as well as new or unusual ways to present data) and shares with team).

Volume Forecasting

  • Is a recognized expert. Helps teams find / create solutions to unusual client issues as needed
  • Looks across studies to identify patterns / general learning.
  • Leads team to develop / maintain standard protocols.
  • Identifies examples of best practice (standard as well as new or unusual ways to present data) and shares with team).
  • Suggests changes / improvements in standard protocols as appropriate.
  • Suggests R&D opportunities that would enhance learning, improve productivity or lower costs.

Multivariate Analysis

  • Is a recognized expert. Helps teams find / create solutions to unusual client issues as needed
  • Looks across studies to identify patterns / general learning.
  • Leads team to develop / maintain standard protocols.
  • Suggests changes / improvements in standard protocols as appropriate.
  • Suggests R&D opportunities that would enhance learning, improve productivity or lower costs.

Project Management

  • Ensures that study design and analytical plan represent the best solution to client issues and follow company protocols.
  • Suggests creative solutions as needed.
  • Monitors study status as needed. Identifies and resolves issues.

Business Development 

  • Financial
    • Manages a client service group or office that is responsible for both revenue and profits-Meets group revenue and contribution targets.?-Balances short-term versus long-term financial needs.
    • Thinks in terms of multiple year financial impacts.
    • Creates what-if scenarios and models to better understand future opportunities and risks.
    • Ensures that the pressures of day-to-day activities do not render strategic initiatives inoperative or ignored.
    • Demonstrates an ability to comprehend unfamiliar issues and problems outside of ones’ own area of expertise or responsibility.
  • Management / Supervision
    • Structures assignments and roles of staff to stretch their capabilities and development.
    • Develops / adjusts job descriptions, performance management paperwork and process to fit team needs / requirements.
    • Identifies problems in team’s management or areas of opportunity and develops / implements new processes / systems to address.
    • Mentors less experienced staff members within direct department to understand issues and guide their overall professional development.
    • Mentors individuals outside business unit as appropriate. ?-Estimates short and long-term staffing requirements.

Required Skills

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree or equivalent (MBA, MMR or related advanced degree preferred)
  • Ten or more years experience in marketing research or marketing.
  • Supplier-side experience in an account management role is required. Some client-side experience desirable.
  • Expert understanding of new product forecasting and advanced research methods (e.g., factor analysis, regression, time series modeling) is required.
  • Working knowledge of common software (e.g. excel, word, etc.) and learn new analytical computer software is required.

We’re looking to push the boundaries of what’s possible in our industry and from the various initiatives underway has emerged this newly created position of Innovation Director. This person will drive and shape the innovation process, work collaboratively with the key areas of the organization and blaze the trail driving innovative thinking, explore enhancements to customer experience, encourage employee engagement, create the roadmap for the evaluation of ideas, and shepherd ideas from conception to consumption. This new role is responsible for leading and inspiring the organization in crafting innovative ideas, impeccable solutions, and cultivating relationships.

The ideal candidate is a sharp individual, with a great sense of humor, who thinks fast on their feet, possesses a strong ability to understand the individual challenges of each of our brands, and be nimble enough to switch from one to the other without missing a mark. The Director should be a passionate leader who loves a good challenge and is brave enough to think differently while maintaining high standards. Key job responsibilities include discovery of unmet needs through ideation sessions, analysis and curating of ideas generated through crowd sourcing tools, collaboration with internal Innovation Board members, identifying and valuing new business opportunities, building and executing plans, communicating at all levels of the organization, ongoing management of Reed’s innovation platform, partnering internally and externally to develop products/ solutions.

  • 7+ years experience in product development and design, project management, business development and reengineering
  • Passionate, compassionate leader, with an exceptional appreciation and understanding of the commercial tradeshow business
  • A conceptual thinker that can execute and articulate their vision from concept to production
  • Entrepreneurial, but comfortable in a commercial business
  • A proven track record with translating VOC into business opportunities
  • Experience in innovation and creating new businesses/products/services/models
  • Experience with budgeting a plus
