Engaging with Our Client Community at Our Anaqua User Conference

By Aileen Buchanan, VP of Client Success at Anaqua

It’s been a pivotal year for Anaqua, and the Anaqua User Conference (AUC) was no exception! This year’s AUC took place from April 9-12 at the Loews Royal Pacific at Universal Studios Resort in sunny Orlando, FL. We had an unbelievable turnout this year with our largest client attendance to date including corporate clients adidas, IBM, BASF, Honda, Tokyo Electron, as well as law firm clients Garlick & Markison, Brooks Kushman, Morris Kamlay, and Michael Best just to name a few. Our most valuable aspects of the conference were product training, user led sessions and a forum for our clients to come together and network, sharing IP strategies, best practices and insight on how working with Anaqua helps them accomplish their IP objectives.

Developing a Play to Win Strategy

Attendees got a lesson on how to treat IP management like a team sport when Christof Wolpert, VP of Global Legal Innovation at adidas took the stage as the first keynote speaker. Wolpert provided insights about the ever-competing Sporting Goods Industry and how IP departments must develop a true play-to win mentality. Wolpert examined how to tackle challenges within the IP industry and how to support your business as a true partner.

Thinking Ahead with Invention Pipelines

In the second keynote speech, Alison Mortinger, Counsel, IP Law Systems and Operations at IBM, discussed strategies for maintaining a robust invention pipeline that any company can use, including encouraging a culture of innovation, portfolio management, inventor resources, incentives/awards, and budgets.

Experiencing the “Anaqua Journey”

Thorsten Berg, Senior Counsel IP and Korwin Maria Schelkle, Patent Counsel at BASF took attendees on their Anaqua journey. The seasoned IP leaders shared their Anaqua story, from their pre-ANAQUA days of using stacks of paper for their IP operations to today and where they are looking to go next with advanced IP software.

Envisioning the Next Gen Platform

During the final two days of the Anaqua User Conference, attendees got a sneak peek at Anaqua’s roadmap and new products. Anaqua executives offered a first look at the company’s Next Generation software platform, set to be released later this year. The new software will unite the best-in-class features, functionality, technology and R&D of ANAQUA and Lecorpio.

Clients Unite at Conference Festivities

Aside from sharing insights and strategy tips, guests also shared memories that will last a lifetime at the conference’s exclusive attractions. The week’s festivities included a dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville where attendees bonded over drinks and live music; a Hawaiian Luau with hula dances, fire twirling, and a pig roast; and a trip through The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley where clients enjoyed Harry Potter’s wand experience, tasted delicious desserts, and escaped from Gringotts on the park’s roller-coaster.

This year’s AUC was a great success encompassing high level learning, sharing best practices, and networking throughout the entirety of the conference.

Thank you to all who participated and attended! Hope to see you all next year!
