Our inabilities to adapt needs changing.

Paul Hobcraft

Erosion is everywhere, it just seems inevitable, we somehow get caught up in the process of time and our organizations seem to ‘freeze’ before our eyes, then simply age. According to a survey by McKinsey in 2011, 72% of our transformation programs fail to deliver on their original targets. Unless we create a strategy to transform, how can we re-imagine our innovation processes? Can innovation and transformation combine and work together?

Digital transformation – the need to transform our innovation approaches

Paul Hobcraft

Add in the magic ‘need’ so innovation can benefit from this business digital transformation and we begin to shift around in our chairs even more. What would it mean if we ‘went’ digital and transformed ourselves for innovation within our organisation? I could really expand on that one but not here as I would subscribe to this myself as we need to have a dual mentality of an exploit and explore in our innovation activity.

11 Paradoxes of Entrepreneurial Thinking: why entrepreneurship can hardly be taught

Whereas Schumpeter describes an entrepreneur as disequilibrative – destroying the pre-existing stage of the equilibrium ((Kirzner, 1999) – Kirzner chooses to describe the role of the entrepreneur as more equilibrative – entrepreneurs systematically displace disruptive conditions in order to create stabilized market conditions (Kirzner, 1999). The entrepreneur is an innovator and disturbs the economy (De Jong & Marsili, 2010; Schumpeter, 1934). Koppl, 2008; Lewin, 2011).

Typology for Innovative Organizations

Open Innovation EU

Ford embraced the idea that not tasks should be optimized, but processes should be optimized and automatized: organization design is the effective and efficient design of processes. New generations, societal change, sustainable goals and disruptive technology require organizations to be much more flexible, self-reinventing organisms that don’t fit above-mentioned design principles. A Typology for Innovative Organizations. 2011). 2011).

Uncertainty is the Innovator’s Friend

The Inovo Group

All four need to be managed during the innovation process. Innovators need to use special tools to measure and manage it. By using the ORL uncertainty framework, organizations can better manage innovation uncertainty. In 2011, after more than 20 years of research, Harry Klee, a professor in the Horticulture Sciences Department at the University of Florida, developed the “perfect” tomato. A Necessary Part of the Innovation Process.

Case Studies: Learning from Failure, or Dying from it

We frequently talk about how innovation is a crucial necessity for your enterprise company, and how the right innovation can be the difference between setting the market standards and being shunted aside as a new market leader makes the rules. We also frequently hear about the great innovation successes: Tesla, SpaceX, Uber, Amazon, and even the classic innovation failures, like Kodak and Nokia, who saw incoming disruptive innovation but didn't do anything to face it.

What is innovation management and why your organization needs it

hackerearth

Understanding Innovation Management. Is it a lack of innovation or an inability to cope with change? Either way, businesses need to identify where they are going wrong because innovation as a business strategy is here to stay. For survival, innovation is almost obligatory (Drucker, 1999). An innovation process “connects upstream idea valuation to downstream production and release to market.” Like any business function, innovation can be managed.
