Scrum: understand how the framework can add value to your business

Have you ever had a feeling that the day goes by so fast and the demands do not fade away? Scrum is an agile framework that aims to organize and coordinate your team’s activities to make faster and better deliveries.

Ideal for increasing productivity and efficiency, the tool can be implemented in businesses from different markets.

Among the situations that require the application of Scrum are projects that require a lot of rework, overstep deadlines, stop constantly, when problems are found late, when different members do not understand the functions of each other or when they are delivered prototypes difficult to implement very often.

With the premise of anticipating the unpredictability within a project, through interactive cycles and regular adjustments, this agile tool ensures that the effort used and deliveries made are in balance with the goals established for the project. The result is more agility in decision making, transparency and visibility of project status, in addition to improving the quality of the final product.

Adding value through Agile Mindset

The value assigned to your product or service can be crucial to its success. This step, however, begins way before the customer contacts your business, during the planning and follow-up phase of what is being done. Business value results from the intersection of three dimensions:

  1. What you can successfully and sustainably implement;
  2. What your consumer wants and intends to get for himself;
  3. What your team is excited about in regards to creation.

Adopting Agile mindset is thinking about improving the performance of a product or service in the market, focusing on the real needs and desires of the customers. That is why it is so important that project planning takes into account that adjustments are made during the cycles with the commitment to produce something that the customer sees value for himself.

When the business responds to the market effectively, and becomes part of a more efficient project management, its performance grows. The search for satisfactory results within certain deadlines is one of the pros of Agile management.

Advantages of applying Scrum

Here are some of the benefits your business can get from using this agile tool:

  • Greater agility and predictability to evaluate and deliver products;
  • Optimization of resources during development processes;
  • Flexibility for change and product innovation;
  • Development of efficient and agile work;
  • Fast adaptation to market changes;
  • Delivery of results in short cycles;
  • Constant growth in the market;
  • Opportunity for fast feedbacks;
  • Continuous process improvement;
  • Competitive advantage.

Implementing the framework

For the methodology to work properly, with maximum collaboration among all team members, it is necessary to have a clear sense of each one´s role. The Product Owner will be responsible for all major decision and communication with the team regarding the product; the Scrum Master is a team facilitator, who directs the activities within the project; the Scrum Team is composed of the collaborators who work on the project. Together, they are articulated in activities that allow continuous monitoring of the project, such as:

  • Sprints: Project cycle, which can be from one week to one month;
  • Product Backlog: Set of project objectives;
  • Sprint Backlog: Specific activities performed at each Sprint;
  • Daily Meeting: Daily meeting to follow the project, lasting 15 minutes and held with everyone standing;
  • Sprint Review Meeting: Meeting that occurs at the end of each Sprint to evaluate the functionality of the methodology in the team.
