As it stands right now we’re still on pace to start playing professional baseball again this month! But when we do there unfortunately won’t be any fans in the stand. Unless of course you’re a season ticket holder for the Kansas City Royals. In which case you can still attend the games. Or at least a a cardboard cutout of you can.
As the Royals explain on their blog:
“Initially, up to 500 ‘Fanbassador’ cutouts will be available. Each cutout can be purchased for $40. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Royals Respond Fund, a Royals Charities effort that supports Kansas City area nonprofits who focus on food insecurity as it relates to the coronavirus pandemic.”
But why limit this to season ticket holders and only 500 Fanbassadors? Why not open it up to everybody and fill the entire stadium with them? Especially if you are trying to raise money for charity. After all, social distancing rules don’t apply to cardboard.
In fact, if given the opportunity I would buy one and I’m not even a Royals fan. Quite frankly, I might even be tempted to put my likeness into every stadium. I may not be able to attend the games but that doesn’t mean that I can’t live vicariously through a cardboard cutout of me!
Is the Kansas City Royals’ Fanbassador program the Greatest Idea Ever?
