I’m not talking about your weekend plans to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond if there’s time. I’m talking about President elect Joe Biden announcing his cabinet picks tomorrow. Why is this key information just coming out now?! After the Presidential election has already occurred and Joe Biden has already won it on at least ten separate occasions?!
When a person runs for President shouldn’t we know ahead of time what their entire cabinet is going to look like? Who it is that they are going to be surrounding themselves with? Who it is that is going to be advising them and informing their decision making? Isn’t knowing this just as important, if not more so, than knowing who their Vice-Presidential running mate is?
Now, I realize that we can’t know all of this information during the primaries. Some of the people who initially ran for President may wind up with cabinet level positions in the new government such as with Mayor Pete. But once we get to the point of a Presidential election wouldn’t we have had ample time for all the runner ups to claim their consolidation prizes? Why does it have to be such a secret until the very last minute after the transition is already (in normal circumstances) well under way?!
And more importantly, much like my suggestion for announcing election results weeks later after substantial time has passed to count all the votes and certify them, why aren’t the cabinet picks announced to much fanfare in a massive prime-time awards ceremony with all the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood red carpet event?!
Do I really need to think of everything people? I’m only one person!
